One of Manila’s most splendid edifices, the Malacanang Palace is situated in the San Miguel suburb alongside the Pasig River. Later the palace became the summer residence of a succession of Spanish Governors and subsequently was occupied by a series of American Governors.
The palace was purchased by the Spanish government in 1825 and was designated as the residence of the President of the Philippines in 1937.
